The Binghampton Development Corporation (BDC) is forming a grant steering committee, to which our own Vice President of Business Development, Mike Mathias, has been named a member. He joins other community leaders from organizations such as the Center for Transforming Communities and Christ Community Health Services, among others.
The grant, from The Building Neighborhood Capacity Program (BNCP), is provided by a collaborative of five federal agencies to coordinate capacity building and neighborhood planning assistance through the Center for the Study of Social Policy.
The goal of BNCP is to help neighborhoods develop the knowledge, skills, relationships, interactions and organizational resources that enable residents, civic leaders, the public and private sectors and local organizations to create comprehensive neighborhood revitalization plans.
The Binghampton steering committee will advise the larger Memphis grant steering committee on the target and scope of focus for the work of implementing this grant to build capacity in Binghampton. We hope to see outcomes that include economic development, job creation and more!
